Sunnyvale Fire Station
Project Type: New Construction
Location: Sunnyvale, Texas
Project Description
Komatsu was chosen to design a new Fire Station No. 1 for the Town of Sunnyvale. The Town requested a station with an Equestrian Barn style to reflect the surrounding area. This look was accomplished with thoughtful design by utilizing siding, wood accents, cupolas, and metal rail fencing.
Features include:
• Three (3) drive-through bays.
• Fire Chief’s office, two (2) Assistant Chief offices, eight (8) dorm rooms, one (1) officer suite, and a Training Room that doubles as an Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
• Administration area, office and workstations, kitchen, dining, day area, laundry, and gear room.
• The workout room also acts as the station’s ICC 500 shelter.
• The station reflects Sunnyvale’s rural setting with its equestrian themed design to complement the stables nearby.
• Provided air locks to mitigate carcinogenic air from Apparatus Bay. Ensured all Apparatus Bay adjacent spaces had positive air flow to prevent carcinogenic air into the gear, decontamination, and Quartermaster spaces.
